REVIEW: Vauxhall have waited and waited to enter the cabriolet market and this new arrival looks set to serve them well. This 140 bhp engine in the 1.8 litre variants we have looked at sits well with the other Vauxhall models and it also offers an easy step up class over the 105 bhp, 1.6 litre entry level model. The 197 bhp Turbo option tops the range but the hike in price will put some buyers off. You only need £500 to upgrade from the Twin Top 1.6 Sport to the 1.8 Sport but you’ll need an extra £1700 to move from the 1.8 Sport to the Turbo. The 1.8-litre model does offer the best value for money starting at £18,300. For this you get 18” alloys front fog lights, trip computer, steering wheel mounted audio controls and remote control roof operation, all as standard features. The top of the range Design starts at £18,995 and gives you 17” 10 spoke alloys and a sports steering wheel as well as more superficial styling features designed to give it “edge”. Rain sensitive windscreen wipers, anti-dazzle rear view mirror, automatic lighting control and a windbreak are also standard. Design models also feature automatic pop-up rollover protection bars in place of static bars on the Sport models, making the lines even sleeker without compromising safety. |
